The residential area of Las Naciones is around a 10 minute walk from Torrevieja port and about 20 minutes walk from the main city beach, Playa del Cura. In its centre is the large Park of Nations that covers an area of approximately 40,000 square metres. The park is a delight with a central lake that is home to thousands of koi carp, turtles and ducks and its centerpiece is a walkway that has been constructed in the shape of the European continent with little bridges to access it. Throughout the gardens there are shady trees, water features, seating and picnic areas, a children’s play area and little rental boats to enjoy the lake. The sound of birdsong is very relaxing and you can even see the odd peacock.
Low Property Prices
Las Naciones sits on the edge of the city and therefore the property choice consists mainly of apartments, although there are a selection of bungalows, townhouses and quad houses to be found, some of them sandwiched between apartment blocks. This being said, property prices in the area are relatively low and it is in a handy part of Torrevieja for shopping. Just a short walk will take you to the popular Centro Comercial Habaneras shopping centre offering an excellent selection of high street brand shops, boutiques, cafes, restaurants, a KFC, Burger King and next door is a cinema complex. If you are a resident of the United Kingdom looking to rent or buy property in this area you will be pleased to know there is an Iceland nearby so you will not be short of goodies from back home. The area is also home to the Natural History Museum and it marks the end of Torrevieja ”Greenway” which is a pleasant walking route that makes use of the old railway tracks. There is a small park here and the old railway station has been converted into interesting museum displays including the Christmas Nativity Museum.
